Jess Reiche

I haven’t written about myself in a while so I figure it’s about time to update my reader friends with what’s going on in my life. What better way to do it than 1990s high school email question style? 🙂 Please copy, fill out and send to 10 friends or someone you know will die in 2 days! JUST KIDDING. Gosh I miss the days of these ridiculous chain emails!

1. What’s your name? I always introduce myself as Jessica but most people call me Jess. I prefer Jess, no idea why I’m so programmed to say Jessica.

2. How old are you? I’m currently 32 years old but feel 25 most days. 16 if I’m watching TV.

3. Single, In a Relationship, Married? Married! And we have 2 kiddos – a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy.

3a. So you have a boy and a girl – you’re all set with having kids then right? Seriously, so many people say this to me. And although it’s pretty much true – it’s awfully presumptuous of complete strangers.

4. What is your favorite TV show? All time: Gilmore Girls. Having new episodes: The Mindy Project. On hold but coming back: Hart of Dixie. Off the air: Freaks & Geeks

5. What is your favorite movie? All time: Hot Rod with Pitch Perfect coming pretty close. Newer movie: Mom’s Night Out was pretty funny and enjoyable.

6. What are you currently reading? Over time: “Pride & Prejudice”. With a bible study: Lysa TerKeurst’s “The Best Yes”. For Fun: Mindy Kaling’s “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?”

7. Homeschool or Public School? This past month I started homeschool kindergarten with my daughter. Technically she’s still preschool-age for another year but we’ve been loosely homeschooling since she’s 2 1/2 so she’s doing work that kindergarteners do. We’re planning on homeschooling for the foreseeable future but we all know that when God is running your life that could be just until tomorrow 🙂

8. Cooking or Baking? Lately I’m reeeally into baking. It’s not good for my recovering sugar addiction. My latest creation was a cake that looked and tasted like a donut. It was delicious. donut cake

9. Do you go to church? Yes! The past 4 years have been an interesting journey as a Christian and church life. My family and I are happily planted in Valley Christian Church and are a part of the Poughkeepsie Campus launch team (coming in January!). I recently joined my first official community group and am excited to be serving in the Poughkeepsie campus when it’s up and running.

9a. So do you still believe Christians don’t need to go to church? Hmmm I don’t believe I ever said that. But you’re probably thinking about this post. Read it again and then come back. My answer is that I believe in church and the need for it…I just don’t think it MAKES you or doesn’t MAKE you a Christian.

10. Do you work? Not officially. Being a stay at home mom is definitely a job and a lot of work but no, I don’t make a paycheck. I do however earn us money by consigning items and selling things on ebay. And I save us money by keeping us frugal and shopping deals and coupons.

11. So what do you do all day? Honestly, I have no idea. Cook, clean, prepare food, clean up food, do laundry, homeschool a bit, break up fights, play games, read books, exercise (eeehhh sometimes haha), text with friends/family, food shop, coupon, sell items on ebay and consignment stores, read more books, watch some videos and movies, do dishes, prepare more food, blog sometimes, chat with my hubbie, library, playdates, play outside, read blogs, listen to podcasts, clean some more, organize the house…and coffee. I love the coffee and tea. And hosting people in my home. And praying/worshipping throughout the day when I’m on my A game.

12. Favorite Food? Cheeseburgers and pizza. I love trying new foods but always come back to my American classic comfort food.

13. Coke or Pepsi? I don’t drink soda 98% of my days but when I do I love root beer or a good old fashioned cherry coke from the Eveready Diner.

Well I think that’s all I’ve got for ya right now. Hope you enjoyed this and if not, don’t worry, I’ll go back to regular blogging soon 🙂
