In the Bible: Romans 8 – You’re Not Guilty

I have the YouVersion app on my phone and it gives me a morning alert of a scripture for the day. Every day at 8am my phone glows with a little snip-it of God’s word. Some days I read it and move on with my day. Some days I don’t read it at all. Then there are days like today.

I gave a quick glance at my phone and my heart jumped.

I
read
every
single
word
and
KNEW
I
needed
MORE.

So I clicked on over to Romans 8, translated it to my favorite morning bible, The Good News Bible, and devoured every single word.

You see, last night I had a horrible, no good, very bad dream, or so I thought. I’ve been having bad dreams every night for a while now. Something in my spirit is “haunted” and no matter what I do, every night is filled with dark thoughts and every few hours I jump up with horrible flashbacks of the dream dancing in my head. But this morning I realized that last night’s dream was more than my imagination of twisted tales – it was a message from God. A message of hope. A message of what he wants for His people. A message of salvation and strength in Him. And Romans 8, it confirms it:

God’s Love in Christ Jesus

31 In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 Certainly not God, who did not even keep back his own Son, but offered him for us all! He gave us his Son—will he not also freely give us all things? 33 Who will accuse God’s chosen people? God himself declares them not guilty! 34 Who, then, will condemn them? Not Christ Jesus, who died, or rather, who was raised to life and is at the right side of God, pleading with him for us! 35 Who, then, can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death? 36 As the scripture says,

“For your sake we are in danger of death at all times;
we are treated like sheep that are going to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! 38 For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, 39 neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today, I pray this scripture speaks to you. On your behalf, I’m praising God for the work He WILL do in YOUR heart TODAY. Believe it. Own it. Live it. And walk in the confidence that God created ALL OF US to be CONQUERORS through Jesus Christ.
