Frugal Summer Fun Series: Living Beyond Summer

This has been the hardest post to write. Seriously, coming up with 31 frugal family-friendly activities is hard! Without a budget I could be writing about big day trips and Sesame Place, fancy meals on the water and amusement parks galore. The truth is, sometimes it’s hard to be on a budget. But I set my goal on making this a memorable summer without spending a ton of money and it has been a huge success. I can honestly say this is the best summer I’ve had in a very long time and I have my budget to thank for that. Without a big vacation that costs a lot of money, we were able to enjoy many more activities and have fun coming up with creative ways to spend our time.

For Day 31 I didn’t want to do a recap because that wouldn’t be an original 31st idea. So today my frugal summer fun challenge is to create a frugal fall fun series of your own. Don’t let the summer “end” and fall “begin” when it comes to fun family time – make it a daily/weekly/monthly habit.

  • Choose to find the fun in each day.
  • Look around your town for activities going on.
  • Get involved in your library.
  • Make playdates more than an excuse to see your friends and gossip.
  • Get involved in your church.
  • Do a little Pinterest research.
  • Sign up for demonstrations in stores and affordable online classes.
  • Watch YouTube and learn a new project.
  • Follow creative bloggers for more ideas.

The more you do, the more you’ll learn to appreciate each day and how it doesn’t have to be attached to finances.

In addition to all of the fun summer activities that can still be done in the fall, add to the list! Go find halloween and harvest parties, apple and pumpkin picking, pumpkin decorating, local orchard parties, hay rides, build a scarecrow, discover fall foliage, learn how to face paint, learn the history of the fall holidays, bake a pie or 5, get involved in school activities and create your own after-school fun.

Thanks so much for joining me this summer – I’d love to hear which challenges you and your family did! I’m going to post my own recap tomorrow 🙂
