Frugal Summer Fun Series: Parks & Playgrounds

Today is simple. Kids love playgrounds. Most people love parks. It’s a perfect summer combination for the whole family. Today I challenge you to find a NEW park to visit. Break the rut of going to the same place!

Do a little google search for the Parks & Rec department of your county and take a drive to a new playground. It’ll be a fun experience for everyone as each park has it’s own feel and adventures waiting for you.

Locally here are a few places to try:

  • Bowdoin Park – huge, new playground for kids aged 2 – teen, separated for different ages. Water splash pad. Sand to play in. Plenty of picnic benches. Hiking trails. A pond. Baseball fields.
  • The Tot Parks in Beacon and Cold Spring – perfect for toddlers and young kids, these are parks have more toys than slides. Playground fun for all ages but tons of imaginative play for young ones to run around. Trails to walk. Sand to play in. Cold Spring is a bit nicer 😉
  • School Playgrounds – remember that when school is out, these parks are open to the public!

Take a chance then take a drive and experience something new. And hey moms – don’t forget to put your phone away and play with your kids, they’re only young once!
