In the Bible: No Sleep = No Peace

“Many are asking, ‘Who can show us any good?’
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord.

You have filled my heart with greater JOY than when
their grain and new wine abound.

I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O Lord,
make me dwell in safety.” – Psalm 4: 6-8, NIV (emphasis my own)

I don’t know about you — but a lot of times, I have a hard time falling asleep.

I may be exhausted physically but my mind lies awake somehow pondering the things I don’t during the day.

The worries.

The anxiety.

The fear.

The irrational thoughts.

They all appear in that dark cozy room that should be a chamber of peace.

Today’s scriptures give me hope. David, through all of his trials, was able to dwell in God and find peace.

I think maybe I can too.
